Sudden explicit everywhere

Sudden explicit everywhere

Penny Goring Sudden explicit everywhere Treize, Paris, France curated by Lou Ferrand 18 October — 10 November 2024

Ewww discourse…… so I promise I’ll be quick.

Sometimes I believe that, of all stories, this is one of violence. The kind that progresses more or less masked, more or less deafening, with a drop of venom beading from its lips and dripping down our bodies, our cities, our assemblies. You know the one I’m talking about. The kind whose most ardent desire is to tell us to shut the fuck up. Apparently, it takes a little more to make for Penny to be at loss for words.

It was through these very words that I first met Penny, and I’m not sure I did quite get it at the time. That it was about to take me on the wildest and carefully wrong journey, from one sickening country to another, from sword-fighting to contorting, from simple bumbags to serious bling.

And of all stories, I believe this is also one of love. Not the romance that keeps sucking you back in, not the dark twisted one, or, at least, not only. Something even more unconditional. When was the last time you experienced love at first sight? The ground trembles… Penny hatefucks her reader, but she also knows how to make them shiver. If this is a state of emergency, I’m happy to we can get through it amidst Penny’s poetry.

From now on, there’s no more room for secrecy, no more room for mystery—

It will just be

suddenly

explicit

everywhere

So I’ll stop here, and give the floor to Penny. Was that too much? Was that even discourse?

X Lou
